Brain Awareness Week 2025

Brain Awareness Week is an annual campaign that promotes enthusiasm, knowledge and research in the field of neuroscience. It is an exceptional opportunity to communicate science through activities with different audiences and in different contexts.

CiBB - the R&D unit of the University of Coimbra that brings together CNC-UC, iCBR-FMUC, MIA-Portugal and GeneT - is once again promoting this initiative with various activities:

  • Neuroscientists go to schools - lectures, debates, visits, games and hands-on activities in school contexts from pre-school to senior universities throughout the month of March;
  • Brain Gain: an initiative aimed at secondary and higher education students to inspire higher education students to pursue careers in neuroscience - March 18 and 25, 18h-20h (online)
  • World Sleep Day: actions to raise awareness of the importance of good sleeping habits, March 14 (various locations)

Brain Awareness Week is an international initiative promoted annually by the Dana Foundation and the European Federation of Neuroscience Societies. In Portugal, it is promoted by the Portuguese Society of Neurosciences and Ciência Viva and CiBB has been involved for several years.
