Jessica Gonçalves Da Silva is actually attending the PhD Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) 2020/2021 from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra with a FCT individual PhD scholarship. She also integrated the Fulbright community having be awarded a Fulbright scholarship for research with the support of FCT. She completed her Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in 2019 (Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra), with a dissertation entitled "Evaluation of the immunotoxicological properties of PLA nanoparticles", and her Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2017 (Department of Medical Sciences, University of Aveiro). Moreover, she is currently a researcher at CNC.IBILI (CIBB, University of Coimbra), being a laboratory member of the Metabolism, Aging and Disease - Obesity, Diabetes and Complications Group. She has published an original article as co-author in the journal Chemical Research in Toxicology (Quartile 1) entitled "Unravelling the immunotoxicity of polycaprolactone nanoparticles - effects of polymer molecular weight, hydrolysis and blends", and another original article as first author in the journal Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology (Quartile 2) entitled " Poly(D,L-Lactic Acid) Nanoparticle Size Reduction Increases Its Immunotoxicity". In her professional activities, she interacted with 9 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. Moreover, she has been accredited as investigator for scientific experimentation involving animals (rats and mice) attributed by DGAV (Direção Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária, Portugal) - Course on Laboratory Animal Sciences - FELASA Category B certification. In his curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural output are: polymeric nanoparticles; polylactic acid (PLA); polycaprolactone (PCL); chitosan (CHI); safety-by-design; quality-by-design; in vitro; in vivo; immunotoxicity; immune cells; inflammatory markers; gene expression; metabolism; diabetes; insulin resistance; insulin signaling; diabetes complications; diabetic foot ulcerations; wound healing; biomarker levels.
