This is an intensive introductory course targeted to students from the M. Sc. to post-doctoral levels, with either biological or exact sciences backgrounds, who wish to acquire skills in Computational Biology. Applications from B. Sc. students with outstanding CVs/skills will also be considered.
The course will have four components:
- Introductory lectures (parallel tracks: mathematics and physics for biologists, biology for exact sciences students),
- Courses on specialized topics, from the molecular level to integrated physiological systems,
- Seminars on cutting-edge developments by World-leading scientists in their fields,
- Mini-research-projects giving the opportunity to apply acquired skills to real research problems.
Topics covered include:
- Core knowledge for modeling biological systems
- Molecular dynamics for lipid membranes and proteins
- Protein-ligand interactions and drug discovery
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in Biology and Biomedicine
- Genomics/Transcriptomics to characterize cellular mechanisms
- Kinetic modeling of metabolic and signaling processes
- Modeling of physiological systems
- Computational Neuroscience / NeuroAI (new module)
Illustrative applications will emphasize biomedical problems.
All proceedings will be in English.
The registration fee for the selected candidates is 150€, to be paid within one week after acceptance announcement.
