On the National Day of Scientific Culture, 24 November, from 12:00 to 13:30, the European project PAS GRAS presents the launch of the comic book “Mitochondrial Follies: A Brief Journey into the Energy of Life.”

The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music and the Quinta das Flores Basic and Secondary School, in Coimbra, with free admission upon mandatory registration (limited capacity).

The comic follows the daily life of Lara, a young woman diagnosed with a metabolic disease, guiding readers on a journey inside the cell and revealing the essential role of mitochondria, often described as the cell’s “powerhouses", responsible for converting food into energy.

During the launch, participants will attend a presentation of the comic book with the authors and the illustrator, explore projected excerpts from the book, and take part in an interactive moment that connects art and science. Each participant will also have the opportunity to receive a free copy of the comic.
