CNC Animal Facilities are technological platforms dedicated to supporting animal experimentation. We operate under the highest standards of welfare and sanitary safety, ensuring that research and teaching translate into reliable and reproducible results.

Facilities
We offer two complementary units equipped to meet diverse scientific challenges:
CNC_UC-BIOTECH (Cantanhede):
Operating under SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) conditions, this unit has a capacity for 1,500 rodents and features a Biosafety Level 2 Laboratory (ABSL2), enabling the study of moderate-risk agents.
FMUC_UC Polo 1 (Coimbra):
A conventional facility with an extended housing capacity for 4,000 rodents.
Specialised Services
1. Breeding of animals for experimental purposes, including embryos and litters of specific ages.
2. Colony management (Genotyping services coming soon).
3. Sample collection.
4. Support for experimental projects in neurosciences, immunology, cancer, and metabolic diseases, featuring a suite of behavioural testing equipment, surgical theatres, and expert technical support.
