Articles presented at the TAS 2023 international colloquium now compiled in a book

The book Theatre About Science: Performing and Communicating is now available. Published by Coimbra University Press, the volume brings together 26 articles presented at the second edition of the international colloquium Theatre About Science (TAS), which took place in Coimbra in November 2023.

 

Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the University of Coimbra (CNC-UC) is one of the partners organizing the conference. Among the editors are CNC-UC researchers Ana Santos-Carvalho and Sara Varela Amaral, who also authored the book’s introduction.

 

The volume opens with the article “To Sleep or Not to Sleep?”, authored by researchers from the CNC-UC research group Sleep and biological rhythms in ageing and age-related diseases. The article’s authors include researchers Bárbara Santos, Madalena Almeida, Laetitia Gaspar, Catarina Carvalhas-Almeida, Sara Varela Amaral, Ana Teresa Viegas, João Cardoso, Ana Santos-Carvalho, Cláudia Cavadas, and Ana Rita Álvaro.

 

Held biannually since 2021, TAS is organized by Marionet in partnership with CNC-UC, GeneT, the Gil Vicente Academic Theater, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS 20), and the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at UC.

 

Marionet is a theater company based in Coimbra, founded in 2000, that focuses on the intersection of the performing arts and science, and that has been collaborating with CNC-UC for many years on science education, research, and science communication.
