Aim
The course aims to provide an overview of the (pato)physiology of obesity and diabetes, focusing on adipose tissue. It is divided into four main topics: 1) clinical management and implications of metabolic diseases; 2) Mechanism of metabolic diseases with a particular focus on adipose tissue; 3) environmental and biological determinants of metabolic diseases; 4) therapeutic strategies spanning from pharmacological to non-pharmacological approaches. The course provides a holistic approach to the main factors involved in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders.
